Nomination of Daikin Awards 2024

We are very proud to announce that we were nominated for the prestigious Daikin Award. The award ceremony was held in Jakarta on November 28th, and our founder, Mr. Sasta Jelantik, represented SHL Asia.

One of our projects, a luxurious mansion in Tangerang, was honoured by being named the top five, standing alongside some of Indonesia’s top architects.

A brief background on this award: The Daikin Designer Award is held annually to recognize top designers who successfully combine excellent design with functionality, particularly in the context of air conditioning systems, which play a crucial role in improving the quality of life. The award is curated by a respected panel of jurors, including Daniel Mananta (actor/presenter), Wenky Handono (Daikin), Alex Bayu Saputro (Indonesia Association of Interior Designers), and Tan Tik Lam (Indonesian Institute of Architects).

Under such appreciation, we nominate one of our prestigious projects in Tangerang: a residential complex that radiates oriental grandeur while combining ergonomic living quality.

This project comes from a business owner who host many important businesses meeting. His guest often come from abroad and he wants this house represents the value of Indonesian culture. That is the reason he asked for a luxurious space that gives inhabitants a true sense of Indonesia and ‘peranakan’ culture.

Peranakan culture is the result of the acculturation between Chinese immigrants and the indigenous societies of the Nusantara region. Over time, this blending of Chinese and local influences has created a unique cultural identity unlike anywhere else in the world. The most obvious feature is how this Peranakan style brings Oriental elements into the heat of tropical Indonesia. The windows are reachable and very close to the dance of natural plants. Shadows fall on the organic materials, enhancing the ambiance. Given the limitation of panoramic views in a dense city like Tangerang, we create our own haven of greenery. The atmosphere is inviting, encouraging shared meals and laughter, where everyone’s faces brighten from the warm natural lighting.

In the Daikin Award, we emphasized how we approach climate control with the help of air conditioning technology, provided by Daikin’s most centralized system. The solution should complement the elegance of the room and its warm ambiance. One important aspect we considered is how the current technology can maintain the humidity of a room, thereby preventing fungi and moss growth in every corner. This results in significantly enhanced air quality inside.

We consider the concept to be eco-luxury, and after a rigorous selection process among the nominees for the Daikin Award, we managed to be one of the top five finalists with this concept. The honour takes us into exclusive invitation to St. Regis in Jakarta to attend the awarding night.

Our director, Sasta Jelantik, attended as our representative. Together with other senior architects from across Indonesia who participated in the nomination, they gathered in the hall for the award nomination ceremony. Among them were jurors, including property realtors, designers, and celebrities. This gathering was not without value; returning home as a finalist runner-up, Sasta Jelantik brought back new insights after networking with fellow colleagues.

At the Daikin Award, the critical importance of air quality in design has become increasingly evident. As the global focus shifts toward sustainability, it is clear that the seamless integration of eco-friendliness into every project is no longer just a choice, but a responsibility. With advancements in technology and a deeper understanding of environmental impacts, the potential to create healthier, more sustainable spaces has never been more achievable. This evolving journey is just beginning, and as new solutions and ideas emerge, the possibilities for innovation, positive impact, and a greener future seem truly limitless. The commitment to these values will undoubtedly shape the spaces of tomorrow, setting new benchmarks for design excellence.
